Der Schlagzeuger Grosskopf (Scorpions, Wallenstein) war 20, als ihm ein LSD-Trip „die Realität weghaute“ und er seine eigene musikalische Sprache entdeckte – und die Elektronik. 1980 erschien auf Sky Records Grosskopfs erstes Soloalbum, „Synthesist“. Sechs Jahre später folgte das zweite, „Oceanheart“. Es ist klanglich ein Kind der 80er, aber kompositorisch der Berliner Schule (Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream) zuzurechnen. Kommerzieller Erfolg war dem Album nicht beschieden, unter Elektronik-Fans weckt es aber auch heute noch Begehrlichkeiten.
„Der Titel des Albums ist meiner Liebe zur transzendentalen Meditation zu verdanken, denn natürlich klingt er nach weichgespülter Esoterik“, so Grosskopf heute.
