Gerüchten zufolge verbirgt sich hinter dem Baumann/Koek-Projekt kein Geringerer als Peter Baumann von Tangerine Dream. Tatsächlich gibt es musikalische Ähnlichkeiten. Jedoch: Die Wahrheit gestaltet sich anders. Das Duo setzt sich aus Wolfgang Baumann und Ata Koek zusammen, und beide genießen keineswegs die Reputation von Wolfgangs Namensvetter. Baumann stammt aus Kempten, Bayern, und wurde 1950 geboren. Sein Partner sechs Jahre später in Istanbul. Die vier Stücke für 'Baumann/Koek' nahmen die Zwei 1978 auf einer Vierspurmaschine zu Hause auf. Anschließend buchten sie Conny Planks Studio und sorgten dann in Eigenregie für den finalen Mix. Ohne Label im Rücken bezahlten sie die Herstellungskosten für 1.000 LPs aus eigener Tasche. Das Album kam gut an, so dass sich das süddeutsche Label Jaguar entschloss, 5.000 Vinyls nachzupressen und weltweit zu vertreiben. Besonders in Japan verkaufte sich die LP sehr gut.
