| Peter Baumanns Solo-Debüt 'Romance 76' war ein großer Wurf. Auf seinem zweiten Album, 'Trans Harmonic Nights' von 1979, emanzipierte sich der Keyboarder weiter von seiner Ex-Band Tangerine Dream und klang anders, aber nicht weniger genial. Die Musik zeichnet sich durch eine lebensbejahende Unbeschwertheit aus: Majestätische Mellotron-Chöre und der verstärkte Vocoder-Einsatz verleihen ihr etwas Ätherisches, Unwirkliches. Baumann berichtet: 'Es war einfach eine ganz andere musikalische Zeit. Wir haben das alles nur aus dem Augenblick heraus kreiert. Meine ersten beiden Platten sind aus der Studioarbeit heraus entstanden. Es ging einfach nur darum, sich als Musiker auszudrücken, darum, welche Emotionen und welche Klangfarben, welche Rhythmen und Melodien mir eben am nächsten lagen.'
