Neoton was formed in 1965 as the band of the University of Economics. In 1968, they won the Ki mit tud? contest with their song Kell, hogy varj. The band, which initially played pop music, changed its style in 1970 with the addition of new members: Ferenc Balazs (organ), Ferenc Debreczeni (drums), Lajos Galacz (vocals - guitar), Laszlo Pasztor (guitar), Lajos Som (bass guitar).

In view of their success, the Record Company gave them permission to make an album, so they were the only second-line bands to make their first album in 1970, which was called The Mad City. The band wanted to move forward in a progressive direction with the album, but the album, due to its experimental style, turned out to be a collection without hits, which did not achieve undivided success. This line-up of the band even made it to (ORI) and Black Africa (Nigeria, Ghana) to perform. When they returned from Africa, several members left the band, and this ended the
